A book, a series or a craft project can hold your attention for hours. Enjoying something quietly is not a problem, but a natural stopping point can be a useful moment to check what you need.
Between chapters or episodes, look away and consider a change of position, a drink or a brief walk around the room if suitable. Use the pause that already exists instead of setting a string of alarms that interrupts the enjoyable part.
Keep whatever you need nearby so the break does not become a search: glasses, a mobility aid, comfortable footwear or a clear place to put the project down. Avoid leaving sharp tools, cables or unfinished materials across the route.
Then return if you want to. The break does not have to replace a restful afternoon with a productive one. It simply gives your attention a chance to come back to the room and lets you choose whether to continue.
