An after-dinner walk can be a pleasant way to spend part of the evening, but it works best when nobody feels hurried out of the house.
Choose timing and a pace that feel comfortable for you. Keep the first route familiar and close to home, with an easy return. If you feel unwell or movement is uncomfortable, stop and choose another time rather than treating the outing as a requirement.
Check the light and weather before leaving. The route that works in a long summer evening may need changing when nights draw in. Take the practical things you normally need, even if the intention is only a short loop.
Avoid attaching a long list of errands to the walk unless that is what everyone wants. Sometimes its appeal is precisely that there is nothing particular to accomplish. You leave the dishes settled, see a little of the neighborhood and return to an evening that still has some room in it.
