A small errand offers a pleasant answer to the question of where to go. There is a destination, a reason to leave, and usually no need to invent an elaborate itinerary.
Choose an errand with a light load. A library book is different from a weekly grocery shop, especially if the return includes a hill. Check the opening hours before you go and bring the bag you will actually want to carry home.
The direct route may not be the nicest walking route. One extra block can sometimes mean a marked crossing, a wider pavement or less traffic noise. Look at those details rather than relying on the shortest line on a map.
You can leave the errand as the whole outing. There is no requirement to add a scenic detour for it to count. When the destination becomes familiar, it also becomes a practical option on days when planning a separate walk feels like one decision too many.
